Alaska ERAP Treasury Programs:
Are you struggling with rent and utility payments? Alaska Housing Rent Relief provides up to 12 months of rent and/or utility relief to eligible Alaskans unable to pay rent and utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even if you’ve received rent relief from AHFC in the past, you can apply to this new program! The Alaska Housing Rent Relief application period opens on February 16th.
Alaska CARES+ Programs:
COVID-19 has hit Alaskan communities hard, resulting in lay-offs without pay and reductions in work hours. Alaska Housing Finance Corporation has implemented a special hardship process to provide immediate rental relief to our families affected by income loss due to COVID-19. To qualify for rent reduction, families must be enrolled in a qualifying Alaska Housing program and have demonstrable income loss due to COVID-19.
The Anchorage Assembly has established a $1 million housing costs relief fund, which will be disbursed through an already-established United Way program. Renters and homeowners can apply by calling Alaska 211. If selected for assistance, the money will be given directly to a landlord, or a bank for those seeking assistance on their mortgage.
The Juneau Assembly recently appropriated $3 million of federal CARES Act funding to help qualifying households pay for your mortgage, rent, and utilities, including heating and fuel. Catholic Community Service is administering the program. Applications will be available here starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The COVID-19 Housing Assistance Grant Program allows an individual or household to apply for up to $2,000 in housing assistance – up to $1,500 for rent or mortgage, and/or $500 for utility bills.
The City of Kenai has partnered with the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) to provide rent and mortgage relief for Kenai residents who have suffered economic hardship due to COVID-19. The Kenai Housing Relief program will provide up to $1,200 each month to eligible households in the City of Kenai for the months of September through December 2020.
Petersburg Indian Association is rolling out more assistance programs for tribal members as well as other residents in town through federal Cares Act funding. The programs include utility, rental, mortgage, and food assistance to tribal members as well as moorage assistance at the harbors for all residents who qualify.
The City of Soldotna has partnered with the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) to provide rent and mortgage relief for Soldotna residents who have suffered economic hardship due to COVID-19. The Soldotna Housing Relief program will provide up to $1,200 each month to eligible households in the City of Soldotna for the months of September through December 2020.
